Permits

When is a permit required?

Lata Tampit, Chemperoh, Hulu Tampit, and Gunung Nuang are all within Hutan Lipur Sungai Tekala or adjoining Forestry Department land. Permits are obtained from the Jabatan Perhutanan (Forestry Department) office in Sungai Tekala, a short drive from the trailheads.

For day hikes with a licensed operator, they handle the permit. If you're going independently, visit the office before the trail start. Permits are generally RM5–15 per person and are issued same-day for most trails except Gunung Nuang.
